Terms, privacy and takedown

The short version: scores are automated opinions about writing style, and anyone can opt out of them instantly.

Terms of use

slop elo is a commentary and satire project about the style of public LinkedIn posts. By using this site or the extension you agree to these terms.

Scores are opinions

Scores are automated estimates from text heuristics and an open detector model. They are opinions about writing style, not statements of fact about any person, and they can be wrong.

A score says how much a piece of writing resembles text produced by AI tools, as judged by heuristics and a detector model. It does not say who wrote a post, whether anyone used AI, or anything about a person's character, honesty, skill or work. Read every rating as satire and commentary on writing style, not as an accusation.

Provided as is

The site, the extension and every score are provided as is and as available, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Detectors make mistakes, and they flag writers whose first language is not English more often. To the extent the law allows, slop elo and its maintainers are not liable for any loss arising from use of the site, the extension or the scores.

Fair use of the site

  • Do not use scores to harass, threaten or make decisions about a person, such as hiring, firing or lending.
  • Do not submit text that you made up or edited to move someone's score.
  • Do not try to get around the rate limits or the verification rules.

slop elo is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by LinkedIn.

Privacy

What we collect about authors

  • The text of public posts and comments the extension saw. It is stored for at most 30 days, then deleted by a nightly job.
  • The author's public LinkedIn handle, name, headline and avatar URL.
  • A number from the detector model for each post, plus the scores and evidence computed from it.

What we collect about visitors and extension users

  • IP addresses are never stored. They are only kept as salted hashes, for rate limits and so that one network counts once in verification.
  • The extension sends a random install id. It is not linked to your name or your LinkedIn account.
  • If you send an opt-out, contest or claim, we keep the contact you give us, only to handle that request.

Legal basis

We process this data on the basis of legitimate interest: commentary on posts their authors chose to publish. We keep the data to what that needs, delete post text after 30 days, keep profiles out of search engines, and give every author an instant way out.

Your rights

You can object to the processing and have your data erased at any time with the instant opt-out. It takes effect at once: your stored posts, scores and rating history are deleted, your name, headline and photo are removed, and nothing new is collected for your handle. To correct a single score instead, contest it. For any other request, write to the address below.

Takedown and contact

The fastest way to remove a profile is the opt-out form, which needs no review. For legal notices, takedown requests and anything the forms do not cover, email us at:

Tell us the profile or page, what you want removed or corrected, and how to reach you. We act on valid requests promptly.
